Origins & Supply Network
Every commodity has a right origin. Asking for it from the wrong one is the most expensive and most common mistake in trading.
The regional notes below summarise which product makes structural sense from where. We re-evaluate this picture on every enquiry alongside export bans, harvest calendars and freight conditions.
Türkiye
Pulses, hazelnuts, dried fruit, flour and pasta, beet sugar, sunflower oil, processed food
Strong where it is a producer, and also a hub where raw material of Canadian and Russian origin is processed and re-exported. Türkiye does not grow cane — 'Turkish origin cane sugar' is a contradiction in terms.
Russia & Ukraine (Black Sea)
Wheat, barley, corn, sunflower oil, rapeseed, meal
The centre of world wheat and sunflower oil trade. Load port flexibility, war risk premium and insurance conditions are inseparable parts of the contract. Export duties and quota regimes change periodically; every offer is verified against current regulation.
Brazil & Latin America
VHP raw sugar, green coffee, soy, corn, cocoa
Brazil mainly exports VHP raw sugar; some large mills do not even operate a refining line. For bagged ICUMSA 45, Guatemala and Colombia are structurally the better origins. In coffee, Brazil and Colombia are the primary sources.
Africa
Sesame, cocoa, coffee, cashew, pulses — and a major buying market
Both a source and a destination. West Africa is strong in cocoa and cashew, East Africa in sesame and coffee. On the buying side, foreign-currency allocation regimes (e.g. franco valuta arrangements), import permits and pre-shipment documents such as ECTN/BSC are critical.
Gulf & Middle East
Refined sugar (Dubai, Oman), re-export and free zone stocks
For small and mid-sized container enquiries the realistic source is usually free zone stock: refineries do not run a single-container trial order. Routings out of Oman can also reduce Bab el-Mandeb exposure.
South & Southeast Asia
Sugar, rice, spices, cashew, Robusta coffee
Thailand and India are major players, but India applies periodic export bans. Offers of 'ready Indian-origin stock' appearing during a ban period should be eliminated on sight.
Origin recommendations change with market and regulatory conditions. Once we receive your enquiry we reassess them against that day's export regime, crop situation and freight conditions.
